WATER SECTOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

INVITATION FOR BIDS

SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION OF SECONDARY AND TERTIARY DISTRIBUTION MAINS -PART 2E

TENDER NO AE/033/2007-08/04

1. This invitation for bids follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in Development Business under notice no. WB 320-696/07 of January 17, 2007.

2. The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania and Development Partners has set aside funds towards the cost of the Water Sector Development Program (WSDP), and it is intended to apply part of the proceeds of the funds to payments under the contract for Supply and Installation of the Secondary and tertiary distribution mains part 2E.

3. The Dar es Salaam Water Supply and Sewerage Authority on behalf of the government of the United Republic of Tanzania now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for Supply and Installation of the Secondary and tertiary distribution mains part 2E, covering areas along the Upper Ruvu Transmission main. The works include supply and installation of;
• 127 km pipes of sizes ranging from 250 to 65 mm of secondary and tertiary mains.
• 155.8 km pipes of sizes ranging from 80 to 65 mm of infill pipes.
• 19.3 km pipes of sizes ranging from 150 to 65 mm pipes as rerouting/ replacing of existing pipes presently located in plots.
• 8.8 km pipes of sizes ranging from 250 to 50 mm rehabilitation/ replacement of existing pipes C
• 624 No. connections/ valve surface boxes
• 206 No. of 25 mm anti-shock/ anti-surge air valves in chambers
• 206 No. of washouts in chambers
• 62 No. of fire hydrants in chambers
• 30 No. Off takes at existing DN 600 mm Off takes
• Installation of 16,950 No. new water meters of 20/ 12 mm dia
• 378 km of 20/ 12 mm consumer connections
• 50 No. construction of water kiosks

4. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from and inspect the bidding documents at the office of The Secretary, DAWASA Tender Board , Dunga/Malanga Street (Mwananyamala area), P.O.Box 1573 Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Telephone no; 255 22 2762524, Fax 255 22 2762480

5. Bidding will be conducted through the international competitive bidding procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines : Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA credits, May 2004), and is open to bidders from all countries as defined in the guidelines.

6. A complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the above and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Tanzanian Shillings Two Hundred Thousand (TSHS 200,000.00) or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency.

7. Bids must be delivered to the address below on or before 10.00 hours Local time on Wednesday July 30,2008 and must be accompanied by a bid security of Tanzanian Shillings Two Hundred Thousand (TSHS 200,0000) or its equivalency in a freely convertible currency. Late bids will be rejected.

8. Bids will be opened in the presence of bidders’ representatives who choose to attend at the place of submission immediately after the submission deadline.
