INTERNATIONAL TENDER

Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Provision of Transaction Advisory and Preliminary Design Services for the Proposed High Capacity Standard Gauge Railway Line Between Mombasa and Malaba with a Branch Line to Kisumu.

Kenya Railways is a State Corporation established in 1978, under the Kenya Railways Corporation Act Cap 397 of the Laws of Kenya.

Kenya Railways mandate includes development of railway transport services within the country.

The Government of the Republic of Kenya (GoK) intends to enhance capacity in the transport sector to improve efficiency, cost effectiveness and competitiveness of the sector to facilitate rapid economic growth.

GoK therefore intends to build a new, modern high capacity Standard Gauge railway line between the Port of Mombasa and Malaba with a branch line to Kisumu.

It is envisaged that the railway line will be extended to Uganda and the Great Lakes Region.

GoK has set aside funds within 2009/2010 budget to initiate the development of the Railway.

Kenya Railways now invites sealed bids for advisory services to undertake Preliminary Design and develop a suitable financing, construction and operating model for the railway.

Interested Bidders must purchase the Tender Document at the office of:
